Basic Tutor Training for Students of Cognitive Science

Block Course: 27.03.2020, 10:00 - 17:00 Prerequisites: No prior experiences are required for this basic tutor training. Target group: students who will become a tutor and/or want to advance their didactic skills (as a tutor). Are you already tutor? Will you become a tutor? Are your looking for opportunities, to prepare yourself for the job as a tutor? This course will give you the chance to advance your skills as a tutor. As a tutor you have a significant role in supporting your fellow students to improve their educational performance, to understand difficult concepts, and to develop study as well as personal skills. In this basic tutor training you will be prepared for and accompanied during your job as a tutor. You will acquire during two-day training didactic planning expertise and rhetorical skills as well as a great variety of tools and methods for your tutorials. Furthermore, will discuss the role of tutors in general, the characteristics of good as well as bad tutors etc. to be able to reflect our own actions as a tutor. Side Note: For this important role as a tutor, the Osnabrück University offers a curriculum, Since June 2016 this curriculum is accredited by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Hochschuldidaktik (dghd) and consists of one basic and two advanced trainings coupled with an individual learning portfolio. The seminar we are offering this term with cover the first module (marked in green) that is required for the successful completion of the whole certificate. However, finishing the certificate is not a necessary condition to participate in the basic tutor training.
