The course has no prerequisites. It is concerned with the cognitive and neurophysiological bases of language processing and production on the levels of phonology, morphology, and syntax, and discourse. Models of lexical access and evidence for the architecture of the mental lexicon will be discussed, among them speech errors. In addition, the relation between gesture and language and the production and perception of sign language will be included. Lastly, an action pespective on language perception will be taken in the sense of using production for comprehension.
