Computational creativity is a multidisciplinary endeavour that is located at the intersection of the fields of artificial intelligence, cognitive psychology, philosophy, and the arts. The goal of computational creativity is to model, simulate or replicate creativity by using computational means. This course will present an overview of key theoretical, practical and philosophical research and issues around computational creativity. The following is an indicative list of topics that will be covered: • definitions of computational creativity; • examples of computational creativity systems; • methodologies for the evaluation of quality and creativity of the systems; • philosophical issues; • comparison of artificial and human creativity; • collaborative creativity between humans and computers; • recent research directions/results in the field. Prerequisites: Knowledge of basic concepts in artificial intelligence.
