In this project, we will investigate the effect of different locomotion techniques and representations of virtual bodies on perceived motion sickness and embodiment in virtual reality (VR) environments. Managing locomotion in VR while keeping motion sickness to an acceptable level is a major challenge for most VR applications. We want to contribute to solving this problem by exploring an innovative approach to locomotion and interaction in VR (hybrid view) as opposed to the commonly used first person perspective. Additionally, we will research the impact of a virtual body on this relationship. We are going to accomplish this by running a sizable study investigating the effect of two different locomotion techniques and the presence of a virtual body (as opposed to having no virtual body) on perceived motion sickness and embodiment.
